I found it on the Wayback Machine; it had been crawled before deletion.
I do the same thing. I download every fic I'm even thinking about reading. I ran into too many cases where a fic was deleted while it was still in my AO3 "mark for later" list, and due to AO3's workings, even the author and title were gone so I couldn't look to see if it was elsewhere.
