Challenge #4

In your own space, set some goals for the coming year. They can be fannish or not, public or private. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I am absolutely rubbish at New Years Resolutions and while I know that plenty of folks are, I usually try to avoid making them so I don't feel like I've somehow failed myself. But, perhaps I can trick myself by not calling them "resolutions" so much as "vague thoughts about what I might find myself doing in the semi-near future". Before I drown myself in my own BS, I'll get to it.

1) I would like to be more consistent in my participation here on DW. To that end we move to . . .
2) Finish steam-lining my recs process so as to avoid major burn out again.
3) Investigate the logistics, equipment, and software needed to produce a podfic, because I have been having daydreams about doing that for a little while now.

I think I shall leave it at three, I don't want to frighten myself off. ;) I looked back at my list from last year, and I really only managed one out of three so here is hoping I can bump that up to two this year. :D

Achievable goals are better than harsh resolutions and I wish you all the best with these things you might do in the semi-near future :)

From many of the podfic people I heave read and seen, the logistics, equipment, and software needed to produce a podfic is "what you have on hand", such that you have a microphone, a computer to record it with, and some way of editing the final waveform into something that can be posted to an appropriate place. Such that you don't spend money on something until you want to have something that it offers.

For free, and that can do the job, even if there are other tools out there, is Audacity, which I haven't played with a lot, but that seems to have all the right features someone might want or need to get started with editing a recording.
