Title: In An Ideal World, Things Would Have Been Different
Author: nanuk_dain
Canon: The Sinking of the Laconia
Pairing: Werner Hartenstein/Thomas Mortimer
Rating: Explicit [NC-17]
Word Count: 127,914
Summary: Sometimes you meet the right person at the very wrong time, Hartenstein thinks while he's watching the Wehrmacht soldiers lead Mortimer away to their waiting vehicle.
Recommendation: So I am WEAK to small fandoms especially ones about honorable, restrained men serving during either of the world wars so it is no surprise that I would become utterly enamored of this wonderful and epic story by the fantastic Nanuk Dain. I would recommend this to anyone in fandom like BoB, The Pacific, or Dunkirk even if you have not seen this mini-series because it is so good and only a cursory knowledge of the incident is needed. All of the obvious research, all of the feelings, all of the angst and drama, and to add to all that a period believable happily-ever-after conspire to make this a true delight. :D
