Prompt 2: Orange
Orange is a warm color that is associated with a variety of things including: excitement, vitality, invincibility, speed, vigilance, dedication, loyalty, family, success, friendship, power, change, harvest, and warmth.
Orange can be the warm sunrise after after the darkest night. It can be the bountiful harvest at the end of your hard work. When was a time where dedication and vigilance have reaped their rewards? What future harvests excite you?
Please feel free to answer in whichever way comes naturally to you, be it a memory you share or an artwork you create. If you’d like a more specific idea to kick things off: paint or share a picture that evokes the theme of orange.
~~~~~~
Do you want to know how many stories that I have collected with the word "orange" in the title. None, that's how many. So, unlike the last prompt I can not take the easy way out. Instead I've looked through my inventory for characters that, though they are called redheads, have a mop of coppery carrot-colored hair (auburns and titians need not apply).
Date: 2020-07-06 10:47 pm (UTC)Ah, Brienne is my girl! (And Gwendoline Christie is a goddess) I'm a pretty die-hard Braime shipper so I have a fair number of recs in that vein if you are interested. *waggles eyebrows suggestively like a sleazy salesperson*
I must confess that my icon game is weak sauce, I almost always use my default except for special posts and never for comments. I blame the fact that I started on Tumblr rather than on LiveJournal, lol. ;D
Date: 2020-07-07 08:18 am (UTC)Because of Remus I chose that icon with Thewlis when I entered LiveJournal in 2005. (I can't remember using any icon on FictionAlley, and on my first fandom home, The Snitch Forums, I had a house-elf icon and just a banner with Remus art made by a friend. Ah, nostalgia!). In 2008 I switched to this one made for me, and now I think I'll make this my default on DW, too. Your default icon is gorgeous.
As for Tumblr, I made an account only recently because of a fest, but I still feel lost over there. And your website looks like a treasure trove – with not only Braime and other Brienne goodness!
Date: 2020-07-09 08:31 pm (UTC)Aw, thanks. It's Scarlet Witch, and I liked it so much that I designed my whole page's aesthetic around it. :D Very Mondrian, lol.
I do hope you find plenty to enjoy! :D
P.S. I wish I had some advice about making Tumblr work, but honestly, I was never able to really get it to move beyond simply being a place to post my recs. I never really found a community not as I have here.
Date: 2020-07-09 08:53 pm (UTC)And thank you for your P.S. In fact, it's good to hear about your experience that finding a community has worked here, not over on Tumblr. Now I'm more determined to focus on interaction here (and on AO3) and use Tumblr only as much as is needed for some fests.
Date: 2020-07-10 06:53 pm (UTC)I know that there are some people who were able to manage it, but I really always felt like posting things on Tumblr was like sending things out into the void and I really couldn't expect any feedback on it. Not that that was always a bad thing. (I've heard the horror stories.) But here is rather feels like having neighbors on a quiet street, you don't have to talk every day but someone is usually around feeling friendly. :D
